Looking for a poured or liquid terrazzo floor? Explore colour, aggregate and the way a floor formed on site works across your space.

Seamless describes the visual effect. Movement joints and divider details still belong in the specification.

Poured, liquid or epoxy terrazzo?

These words often describe a floor formed on site rather than laid as tiles. The name alone does not define the system. In epoxy terrazzo, aggregate is set in a resin binder; ordinary epoxy coatings are a different finish. Confirm the binder, aggregate, build-up, substrate preparation and joint details before comparing quotations.

Resin matrix

Epoxy terrazzo

Aggregate in a resin binder, bonded to a prepared substrate. Colour, aggregate and detailing are specified together. Treat this as an interior system unless a specific product is approved for other exposure.

Confirm moisture conditions, substrate movement, build-up and transitions.

Cement matrix

Cement-based terrazzo

A family of systems with different underbeds and bonding methods. The construction depth and finish need to be considered alongside the substrate and application.

An exterior application needs its own suitable system and specification.

System names describe construction, not a confirmed MONO product catalogue. A sample, technical specification and agreed installation scope establish the actual proposal.

What needs checking

Moisture & adhesion
Check moisture conditions, contamination and the existing surface before selecting preparation or a bonding system.
Cracks & movement
Identify cracks and structural joints. Seamless appearance does not remove the need for movement detailing.
Levels & transitions
Review flatness, available depth, thresholds and edges. Terrazzo should not be assumed to level an uneven floor.
Use & exposure
Review traffic, cleaning, wet use, drainage and exterior exposure. Agree the finish against the actual requirements.

General preparation guidance: NTMA substrate preparation and epoxy system detailing. Product-specific assessment takes precedence.

From the existing floor to handover

  1. Existing floor

Review the substrate and identify removal, repairs or levelling needed before decorative work.

  2. Sample & specification

Agree the proposed system, aggregate, colour and physical sample against your brief.

  3. Detailing & preparation

Define movement joints, dividers, thresholds and preparation responsibilities before installation.

  4. Installation & finishing

Confirm the installation, specified finishing, sequencing and protection included in the works.

  5. Handover

Agree the completion checks and care information for the selected system.

Your quotation confirms included work. Structural repairs, levelling, removal, thresholds, skirtings and interfaces with other trades must be identified rather than assumed.

Aggregate, colour and light define the character. The same material reads differently at the scale of a sample and across an entire room.

A material to consider for

  • Homes & residential interiors
  • Restaurants & hospitality
  • Retail & gallery spaces
  • Workplaces & commercial interiors

These settings appear in the MONO project archive. The proposed system and finish still need to suit the conditions of each new project.

A useful quote
starts with scope.

Plan the complete floor: material, preparation, detailing and installation. The cost guide helps you compare what each quotation includes.

Start with the location, approximate area and current floor. Tell us if the area is unknown. We can prepare a preliminary estimate from your inputs, then confirm the final quotation after the scope is clear.

A few useful
questions.

Does seamless terrazzo mean there are no joints?

No. A continuous visual surface still needs a considered joint layout. Existing structural movement joints must be respected; divider strips can also define colours and areas. The layout belongs in the specification.

Can it go over my existing floor?

That needs a site assessment. Tell us what is currently installed and whether you have drawings. Moisture, bond, cracks, levels and available build-up affect the preparation and the proposed system.

Which system is right for my project?

Start with the space and its conditions. Epoxy and cement-based terrazzo have different build-ups and application requirements. The proposed system, aggregate, finish and sample need to be agreed for the actual project.

Is it suitable outdoors or in wet areas?

Do not specify an interior floor system by appearance alone. Exterior exposure, drainage, waterproofing, slip requirements and maintenance need a separate review. We confirm suitability before proposing a system.

How much does it cost, and how long does it take?

A useful quotation needs the area, location, substrate condition, design and access requirements. Preparation, detailing, installation, curing and finishing all affect the programme. This page makes no fixed price or completion-time promise.

Will the floor match an image exactly?

Photographs and AI visualisations are references. Aggregate distribution, natural variation, light and finish affect appearance. An agreed physical sample is the point of reference for the project.

Do you supply terrazzo tiles only?

Yes. MONO supplies terrazzo tiles, including budget options for larger quantities, without tile installation. We also supply finished terrazzo slabs from suppliers. For either route, confirm the material, format, quantity, availability and delivery terms for your project.

How is the surface maintained?

Ask for the care instructions for the specified system and finish. Agree suitable cleaning products, protection during other works and any ongoing treatment with the project team before handover.
